Run Healthy.Run Happy.

At Precision we offer VO2 Threshold testing and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing. These tests can be used to improve performance, determine risk for injury and help with weight loss goals.

What is VO2 Threshold Testing?

A VO2 threshold test is a maximal exercise test performed on a treadmill or bike. We place a well-fitted face mask over your nose and mouth and connect it to a machine capable of analyzing the concentrations of you inspired and your expired air. The test takes between 10-20 minutes to complete and is designed to reach maximum exertion and exhaustion.

Your test provides data on how much oxygen you use as you exercise and determines the maximal oxygen you can consume during exercise. This is a gold-standard measurement of endurance. We are able to use this information to analyze your fitness level. Additionally we will obtain your maximum heart rate and can use this information along with your resting heart rate to figure out a more precise heart rate range.

Benefits of VO2 Threshold Testing

  • Accurate measurement of current fitness

  • Ability to design a more effective training program

  • Obtain pacing, power and heart rate ranges

  • Receive VO2max, VT2 and VT1

  • Evaluation of effectiveness of training programs

  • Create exercise prescription

  • Predict risk for chronic disease

  • Monitor if a client is exercising at an intensity that is slowing healing times

  • Decrease fatigue

  • Decrease Injury

  • Figure out how to burn more fat

What is Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)?

RMR is the amount of energy your body needs to perform its most basic functions: breathing, digestion, body temperature, muscle tone, blood circulation etc. It is how many calories your body burns while at rest and what your metabolic profile is. Do you burn more fat, carbohydrates or protein? Everyone is different and having this information can improve how you fuel.

We perform this test by placing a well-fitted mask over your nose and mouth and and connect it to a machine capable of analyzing the concentrations of you inspired and your expired air. During this test you will sit quietly, without distraction for somewhere between 15-30 minutes.

Benefits of RMR Testing

  • Accurate measurement of the amount of calories you burn at rest

  • Understand what type of fuel you are burning: carbs, proteins or fat

  • Great information to help build an individual nutrition plan with your dietician or nutritionist

  • Data can be used to help with weight loss program
