Dr. Kacy Seynders PT, DPT, OCS

Kacy has always loved pushing herself. Her family and friends likely had second thoughts about pledging per lap during her elementary school fundraiser “walk-a-thon,” which she turned into a “run-a-thon,” crossing the finish line beet-red and proudly holding the most lap stamps in the school. She played sports at every opportunity, eventually focusing on soccer, which she played competitively for over 10 years. But she soon realized she was much better at running without the distraction of a ball, so she joined her high school cross country and track teams—and never looked back.

She quickly fell in love with running and the powerful sense of community it brought. But her ambitious goals and relentless training led to frequent injuries. After tearing her hamstring her junior year, she picked up swimming and road biking, paving the way for her to compete in club triathlon at the University of Florida (UF).

In college, her passion for movement and helping others do the same continued to grow. During her first semester at UF, she became a certified personal trainer and pursued a degree in exercise science. After exploring other careers in healthcare, Kacy discovered physical therapy through a shadowing experience. She was immediately drawn to the motivating environment and the real impact therapists had on patients’ lives. That same day, she went home to research DPT programs and prerequisite coursework—and never looked back.

Kacy earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Emory University, where she focused on orthopedics and the treatment of endurance athletes. She later completed an orthopedic residency through Mercer University, further specializing in musculoskeletal conditions. She has advanced training in manual therapy and has completed multiple courses in trigger point dry needling. Her continuing education consistently focuses on optimizing care for the endurance athlete population.

A lifelong runner and multi-sport athlete, Kacy has run seven Boston Marathons and completed triathlons ranging from sprint to half Ironman distances. She is a certified running coach for Running Joyfully and an expert contributor on the RUNsource app, where she shares her knowledge with runners of all levels. She was previously a coach with the Atlanta Triathlon Club, where she helped athletes pursue and achieve their racing goals. She also co-hosted the More Than Miles podcast, where she and her colleagues explored the intersection of endurance sports, rehabilitation, and performance.

When she’s not treating patients, you can find Kacy running, cycling, swimming, doing yoga, at the dog park or walking her dog, Oly. She continues to train, coach, and chase new athletic challenges—always adding to her growing list of dream races.

As both a physical therapist and an endurance athlete, Kacy brings a unique empathy and perspective to her work. She understands firsthand how frustrating and disruptive injury can be, and she uses a holistic, movement-focused approach to help her patients get back to what they love—stronger, healthier, and more resilient than before.
